Oprah's Career
Oprah had many jobs. Her first job was working at a local radio station. She did this when she was just 14.
Then in while she was in college the Tennessee State University. She read the news at yet another radio station. In 1973
Oprah became Nashville's first African American correspondent and the youngest co-anchor for a CBS associated television station. By 1976 she was hosting a television chat show called People are Talking. Soon she goes to Chicago to host AM Chicago. AM Chicago was later named The Oprah Winfrey Show. Then 1985 Oprah made her debut in Steven Speilburg's The Color Purple. 1986 The Oprah Winfrey Show was placed on over 115 channels. Then two years later Harpo studios was developed. The name Harpo is Oprah spelled backwards. By 1989 she stars in an ABC miniseries. 5 years later President Clinton signed the "Oprah Bill". By 1998 Oprah received 7 Emmys. A year later she Co-founds the Oxygen Media. In 2000 she launched the Oprah magazine called O. In 2003 her book club became the biggest in the world. In 2005 she ranked number one on Forbes power celebrity list. She campaigned for Barack Obama in 2007 and made the best interview she has ever done in 2009. In 2011 OWN begins on New Year's Day.
